“I ran Vienna for my 40th birthday and wanted to keep something from it. This is honestly the best souvenir I own from any race. The detail on the Ringstrasse section is perfect. Worth every cent.”

The race
The Vienna City Marathon is one of the fastest courses in Europe and one of the most beautiful. The back half runs through the Prater Hauptallee, a grand chestnut avenue that is in full spring bloom in April. The Ringstrasse section takes you past the Opera House and the Kunsthistorisches Museum. An IAAF Gold Label race that attracts runners who want both a time and a setting worth remembering.
The course runs along the UNESCO-listed Ringstrasse, one of the most architecturally significant boulevards in Europe. The Opera House, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Rathaus, all on the route.
The back half of the race runs through the Prater Hauptallee, a long straight chestnut avenue that is in full spring bloom during race week. One of the most photogenic stretches of any European marathon.
The Vienna City Marathon holds the IAAF Gold Label, which means elite timing, a certified course, and a competitive field. Runners who want a personal best choose Vienna for good reason.
Vienna in April is the city at its most welcoming: warm mornings, café terraces full of supporters, the Stadtpark in bloom. The crowd support along the Ringstrasse is notably strong.
The Vienna course is essentially flat from start to finish. No significant climbs, a tailored layout through the city. Many runners record personal bests here.

Vienna is about as flat as marathon courses get, so an elevation gradient will not show much difference from start to finish. Color by pace is usually more interesting here, since it can reveal where you picked up speed along the Ringstrasse or slowed down late through the Prater. A plain line still works fine if you would rather keep the focus on the shape of the route itself.
You can swap the map style to show more or less of the surrounding city grid around the Ringstrasse, adjust the route color and line weight, and add your finish time and name in place of the default title. Distance and elevation stats can be shown or hidden, and a photo from race day can sit next to the map if you want one there.
The Vienna course is essentially one loop out through the Prater and back along the Ringstrasse, so a single route reads clearly as its own shape on the page. If you train in Vienna year round and want to show more than one race day, heatmap mode layers in every other run you upload instead of just the marathon.
The main Vienna City Marathon course is already built into the tool, but if you ran a different distance during marathon weekend, an older route, or a linked event, let us know and we'll add the GPX before your order goes out. This also makes it easy to set someone up as a gift: their name and finish time can be added without them knowing, and the rest of the layout is still yours to design.
