  • Sydney Marathon course pre-loaded, ready in the editor
  • Or sync Strava to use their personal GPS trace from race day
  • Add their name, finish time, and a personal title
  • Digital download or a ready-to-hang printed poster
  • Don't have their Strava login? If you can open the activity on their profile, export the GPX straight from that page. Details in our gift guide

“The harbour section detail is incredible. You can actually see the bridge approach and the turn past Circular Quay. I’ve had prints of my runs before but this is the first one I’ve actually framed and hung in the living room. Worth every cent.”

The race

What makes the Sydney Marathon special.

The TCS Sydney Marathon is an AIMS Gold Label race held each September: 42.195 km that takes you from Milsons Point over the Harbour Bridge, through the CBD, past the Opera House and Circular Quay, along coastal clifftops above Port Jackson, and into The Domain beside the Royal Botanic Garden. Spring conditions: clear skies, dry air, warm but not hot. The harbour at its best.

🏛️

The Harbour Bridge crossing

The race starts at Milsons Point, directly beneath the bridge. The opening kilometres carry you over the arch with the harbour spread out on both sides. Nothing else in marathon running looks quite like it.

🎤

Past the Opera House forecourt

The route passes directly in front of the Opera House at Circular Quay before heading south through the CBD. The finish is in The Domain, with the harbour glittering behind the finishers.

🌞

September spring conditions

Held in September, Sydney’s spring delivers exactly what a marathoner wants: clear skies, low humidity, warm but not hot. The harbour looks its best in this light.

🏁

AIMS Gold Label status

The TCS Sydney Marathon holds AIMS Gold Label status, placing it among the world’s elite road races. Tens of thousands of runners from across the globe line up each year for a certified course and elite field.

🗺️

Clifftop views over Port Jackson

After the CBD, the course reaches coastal clifftop sections with views across Port Jackson and out toward the Pacific. These are the kilometres that make non-runners wish they were racing.

📷

Your GPS trace, not a generic course map

Connect Strava and the poster shows your exact GPS path: every kilometre you actually ran, your precise finish time, your name. A mass-produced event print cannot do that.

Before you start on your Sydney Marathon

Just the Sydney Marathon, or everything else you've logged too?

Crossing the Harbour Bridge and finishing near the Opera House already makes for a striking single line, so plenty of people keep the poster to race day only. If you train around the harbour or the coastal paths year round, layering those runs in as a heatmap shows the bridge crossing as part of a much bigger pattern around the city.

One color, or shaded by pace across the bridge and into the city?

The course is mostly flat with a couple of noticeable rises on the approach to the bridge, so pace or elevation coloring can pick that out if you want the detail. A single solid color keeps the harbour crossing as the clear focal point instead.

How much of the poster can I actually change?

Route color and line weight, the map background, your title and any text underneath it, print size and orientation, plus stats like distance, elevation gain and finish time. Photos can go on too, and every change updates in the live preview before you check out.

The Sydney Marathon year I'm after isn't showing up, now what?

Tell us which edition you mean and we'll get the GPX added. That also makes it easy to put together a poster for someone else's race without tipping them off, their name, time and the date filled in by you, and the rest of the design left for you to finish.

Will the poster actually show me crossing the Harbour Bridge?

If the edition of the course you ran crosses the Harbour Bridge, yes, since the poster traces the GPX track from your own recorded run rather than a generic map of the race. The exact routing has shifted a bit between years, so it's worth checking your file in the preview to confirm the crossing shows up the way you remember running it.
